SRI LANKA'S LAXAPANA FALLS
Laxapana waterfall is a lovely waterfall in the Nuwara Eliya area, located in the town of Hatton. Laxapana Falls is the 625th highest waterfall in the world with a height of 126 meters, making it the eighth tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. You may cool yourself after the hike down in the spectacular natural plunge pool that is located at the base of the falls. The waterfall is extremely picturesque due to the amazing force with which the water thunders down and the silvery froth it produces. Directions to Laxapana Falls South Asia
The travel to the waterfall takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes if you live in the Nuwara Eliya region. We remained in Hatton for a few days in order to explore the region and the waterfalls around, including this one and Aberdeen Falls. You may find the Laxapana Falls entrance using Google Maps. Since it's not quite obvious where the trailhead is, I shot this photo to demonstrate the exact route one must travel in order to reach the waterfall's base.
When to go to Laxapana waterfall? South Asia
Laxapana Falls is best visited between September and December. The waterfalls seem gorgeous during these months because rainfall in the area is at its highest. The strong waterfalls create ideal conditions for stunning photo opportunities.
Expectations for Laxapana Falls South Asia
More than 500 stairs descend to the base of Laxapana Falls amid thick vegetation and alongside nearby homes. When you finally reach the bottom, the beautiful waterfall that cascades down will astound you. The imposing and gigantic 126-meter height makes it Sri Lanka's eighth-highest waterfall. Maskeliya Oya, an important tributary of the Kelani river, creates Laxapana Falls. The adjacent Hydroelectric Power Plant station receives some of its energy from the Laxapana Falls.
Swim in the pool at the base of the Laxapana Falls while taking in the breathtaking vista of the mountains. But take caution! Use caution if you want to swim here because the currents might be strong.
Photographic advice
It is highly advised to use your extra lenses and/or drone when you visit the Laxapana waterfall. There is considerable room for movement and the use of various focal lengths. You will see the waterfall from various angles as a result. You can truly convey the perspective and height of the waterfall, especially if you have a person to include in your frame. Weather in Nuwara Eliya
Compared to the rest of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya has a cooler climate with a higher likelihood of rainfall. This explains why the region has so many waterfalls and why the lovely tea farms make the area so lush and green.
October through December are Nuwara Eliya's wettest months. The driest time of year is from March through May.
